TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Athletic added Elvis Barclay for the 2019 season as he became the ninth signing for the club for the upcoming campaign.
“Elvis brings a wealth of NPSL experience to our backline for this season,” Daniel DeVore, GM of Tulsa Athletic, said. “He played a huge role for the Milwaukee Torrent last season, and we are excited to have him bring his experience and talent to Tulsa to help anchor our defense this summer.”
Barclay brings NPSL experience after playing the 2018 season at the Milwaukee Torrent in the Great Lakes Conference. He started 11 matches on the backline and played the full 90 minutes in 10 contests. For the season, he totaled 940 minutes in 11 matches as the Torrent went 3-5-4.
In his collegiate career, Barclay was an All-American in his senior season at Columbia College. He started in 23 contests as the Cougars went 13-6-1. Barclay helped the Cougars post eight shutout wins. He was named a 2017 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and all-conference by the American Midwest Conference.
Barclay played his junior season at Central Methodist University where he started in 15 contests. The Eagles went 12-6-1 and 8-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Barclay started his collegiate career at Iowa Central CC where he was a two-year starter. In his freshman season, he made 12 starts and scored one goal. As a sophomore, the defender totaled 14 starts. Barclay also played one season at NCAA Division I East Tennessee State.
The 2019 season for the Tulsa Athletic starts on May 5 when the A’s play host to Little Rock Rangers at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park.
