TULSA, Okla. – Defender Wanes Hobat joins Tulsa Athletic for the 2019 as he became the 16th player announced for the upcoming season.
“Wanes Hobat is an exciting player as he brings elite speed to our defense,” Tulsa Athletic GM Daniel DeVore said. “Wanes is a proven winner, and his speed going forward with his overlapping runs will be fun to watch for the fans this season. We are excited for him to join the club for the summer.”
Hobat, a product of Paris, France, joins Tulsa Athletic after playing two seasons at Cloud County Community College where he was a two-year starter with 32 starts and 34 appearances. He was named the KJCCC West Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, and Hobat was selected all-conference by the KJCCC in both seasons at Cloud County. As a sophomore, the defender garnered Second Team All-Region VI honors.
In his two seasons at Cloud, Hobat led the T-Birds to a 27-8-1 record and a KJCCC West Division championship, their second straight division title. The team went 13-5-1 in his sophomore season when he started 16 contests and totaled three assists. He made 16 starts as a freshman and added two assists that season. He anchored a defense that allowed only 1.00 goal per contest.
