WICHITA, Kan. – Tulsa Athletic go on the road for the first time in the 2019 season when the green and yellow play at FC Wichita on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Stryker Stadium in a key Heartland Conference match.
Tulsa Athletic (2-0-1) currently tops the Heartland Conference table with seven points after the first three weeks of the season. FC Wichita has played to two draws for two points in the league to currently rank third.
Tulsa Athletic ended its three-match homestand to open the 2019 campaign with a 3-1 victory over Ozark FC on Saturday (May 18). Aboubakr Diallo totaled a brace, including the game-winning tally, in the win. Junior Kazeem added the final goal in his first contest in the green and yellow in the home victory.
For the season, Diallo leads Tulsa Athletic with three goals, including two game-winning marks. Alex Harris, Joe Ruiz and Kazeem each add goals this season.
Tulsa Athletic has wins over 2018 Heartland Conference champion Little Rock Rangers and Ozark FC plus a draw with FC Wichita for the seven points early in the 2019 season.
The two clubs played on May 11 in Tulsa when the teams finished in a 0-0 draw on a wet and soggy pitch at Veterans Park. In a physical contest, Tulsa Athletic held control in the second half, but they couldn’t tally a goal in the scoreless contest.
In Wichita’s most recent contest, they played to a 1-1 draw at Club Atletico Saint Louis. FC Wichita’s Luca Anelli scored late to earn the tie for the visiting club. Club Atletico Saint Louis took the lead earlier in the match via a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.
FC Wichita leads the all-time series between Tulsa Athletic and FC Wichita with a 6-3-1 advantage.
