Tulsa Athletic Finish Regular Season Unbeaten with 4-1 win at Club Atletico Saint Louis

ST. LOUIS – Tulsa Athletic finished the 2019 regular season unbeaten as the green and yellow defeated Club Atletico Saint Louis, 4-1, on Saturday (July 6) at Saint Louis University High School to go 7-0-3 in the 2019 NPSL season.


Tulsa totaled 24 points this season in 10 contests and won the Heartland Conference regular season champion by 11 points over second play Little Rock Rangers and Demize NPSL. Tulsa Athletic won their third straight contest and are on a 10-match unbeaten streak in 10 contests this season.  


After an even first half, Tulsa posted three second-half goals to cruise to the victory.


Adam Habib tallied the opening goal for Tulsa Athletic. He scored in the 31st minute on one of the best goals of the season to put the visiting team up 1-0.


Club Atletico Saint Louis scored right before halftime to even the match at 1-1. Eric Lopez of CASTL posted the goal in the 42nd minute to make it 1-1. The goal ended a scoreless streak of 250 minutes for the Tulsa Athletic defense.


In the second half, it was all Tulsa as the visiting team registered three goals to pull away for the 4-1 victory. Habib totaled the game-winning goal, his second of the contest, in the 59th minute to put the green and yellow up 2-1.


Tulsa Athletic tallied two goals in only two minutes to push the margin to 4-1. Joe Garcia scored the first goal of the quick spurt in the 77th minute of action, and Aaron Ugbah netted the final score in the 79th minute to up the edge to 4-1 on CASTL.


Nolan Cosgrove made his first start in goal this season for Tulsa Athletic and earned the victory. He allowed only the one goal in his second appearance this year.


Tulsa made it a sweep in the season series against Club Atletico Saint Louis. The green and yellow defeated CASTL, 3-1, in Tulsa earlier this season. The four goals were a season high for Tulsa Athletic.


Tulsa Athletic play host to Ozark FC on Wednesday (July 10) in the Heartland Conference playoffs at Veterans Park. Live video streaming will be available. Tickets are available for as low as $5.
