TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Athletic end their three-match homestand to open the 2019 season when they host Ozark FC on Saturday (May 18) at Veterans Park at 2 p.m.
Tulsa Athletic currently leads the Heartland Conference standings with four points after two weeks. To start the season, Tulsa Athletic defeated 2018 Heartland Conference champion Little Rock Rangers, 3-1, and played to a 0-0 tie against FC Wichita on Saturday on a wet and soggy pitch. Joe Ruiz, Aboubakr Diallo and Alex Harris have all tallied one goal this season, and Bryson Reed has one shutout in goal for 2019.
Ozark FC began the season with a 3-1 loss at Little Rock Rangers on Sunday in Little Rock. Alex Buckley scored Ozark’s only goal in the 80th minute in the season-opening loss.
In their two seasons at Veterans Park, Tulsa Athletic are 5-1-1 and 1-0 against Ozark FC. A season ago, Tulsa Athletic defeated Ozark FC, 3-0, in Tulsa with Joe Garcia scoring the game-winning goal. Damieon Thomas had a brace with two goals in nine minutes. Tulsa Athletic went 2-0 against Ozark in 2018 with a 1-0 victory on the road. Ryan Alpers tallied the lone goal in that win in Arkansas.
Garcia has found success offensively against Ozark FC with four goals, including two game-winning tallies in four contests against the club. Santiago Riveros has registered three goals in only two matches playing Ozark FC.
Tulsa Athletic leads the all-time series 4-0 against Ozark FC and holds a 16-2 advantage in goals. Ozark FC hasn’t scored a goal on Tulsa Athletic in more than 230 minutes dating back to May 20, 2017.
