MCKINNEY, Texas – Tulsa Athletic travels to the McKinney Soccer Complex to take on Dallas City FC on Sunday (May 23rd) at 6 p.m. in a Heartland Conference matchup between the two rivals.
Tulsa Athletic sits second in the Heartland Conference at four points after its most recent game against OKC 1889 FC, who sit first at seven points and lead the conference. Reign FK and Arkansas Wolves are tied for third in the league with one point. This match will be the season opener for Dallas City FC. Demize NPSL has yet to start match play this year.
After opening the season with a 3-3 draw with Arkansas Wolves, Tulsa Athletic picked up a 2-0 win over Reign FK in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Joe Garcia scored both goals in that tightly contested match. Garcia, Alex Harris, and Aboubakr Diallo paced the club in the match against Arkansas Wolves. Tulsa Athletic is coming off a 3-1 home loss at the hands of OKC 1889 FC in the home opener. Santiago Riveros scored the lone goal on a penalty kick in that match.
Garcia continues to lead the club with three goals through three games. Diallo, Harris and Riveros are tied for second with one goal apiece. Goalkeeper Bryson Reed has recorded one shutout victory this season.
Dallas City FC returns to action after a 6-4-2 season in 2019. They played in the Lone Star Conference that season and finished fourth with 20 points. Dallas City FC and Tulsa Athletic last faced off in 2017 when DCFC was in the Heartland Conference. The clubs split those matches with Dallas City FC winning the first match 2-1 at home, and Tulsa Athletic winning the second match 1-0 at Soldier Field at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. Joe Garcia scored in the home loss, while Dave Leung scored the winning goal in the second match in Claremore.
