Tulsa Moves to the Top of the Table with 2-0 Win at OKC

EDMOND, Okla. – Tulsa Athletic moved to the top of the table in the Heartland Conference with a 2-0 win over OKC 1889 FC on Saturday (June 26) at University of Central Oklahoma. 

With the win, Tulsa Athletic ranks first in the conference with 18 points and a 5-1-3 record this season. OKC 1889, which has played one less game, is 5-2-1 with 16 points. Tulsa extended its unbeaten streak to six straight with the victory. Demize NPSL ranks third in the league with 15 points, however, they play Dallas City FC on Sunday with the chance to move into a tie with Tulsa. 

In the first half, Whitney Gonsalves put the visiting green and yellow up 1-0 with the game-winning goal of the contest. 

The first half included a delay due to lightning, but Tulsa went on to hold a 1-0 advantage after the first 45 minutes. 

In the second half, Tulsa doubled its lead to 2-0 with a goal from Aboubakr Diallo in the 50th minute of action. 

Bryson Reed earned the shutout win in goal. Reed totaled a few outstanding saves to finish with the shutout victory. 

For the season, Tulsa and OKC split the regular season series with the visitor winning both times. OKC 1889 defeated Tulsa, 3-1, in the first matchup between the teams this season. The loss is the only one this season for the green and yellow. 

Tulsa Athletic ends the regular season on July 10 with a home contest against Reign FK at Veterans Park. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. with a live stream available.
