TULSA – In the final minutes of overtime, Tulsa Athletic scored to claim the 2021 South Region Championship, 2-1, on Sunday (July 25) at Union Soccer Complex.
For the first time in three tries, Tulsa won the South Region Championship after coming up short for the region crown in 2019 and 2014.
Tulsa’s Riolan Mello scored the game winner in the 120 winner to clinch the victory for Tulsa 2-1 over Southern States SC in the South Region Finals.
The green and yellow went up early in the eighth minute of action with a goal from Munashe Raranje.
Southern States SC answered right back with a tally in the 10th minute to even the game 1-1 with a goal by Samuel Dadzie.
Bryson Reed started in goal and earned the win for the green and yellow.
With the win, Tulsa Athletic advances to the NPSL Semifinals for the first time in club history.
