TULSA – Tulsa Athletic plays host to OKC 1889 FC on Wednesday (July 6) night at 7 p.m. at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park in a clash between the two clubs in first place in the Heartland Conference standings. 

 

Tulsa and OKC are both 7-1-2 this season through 10 matches at 23 points to tie for the top spot in the conference table with only two regular season matches to go. The winner of Wednesday’s match will be in the best spot to capture the Heartland Conference shield and the top seed in the Heartland Conference playoffs. 

 

In their last match 10 days ago, Tulsa Athletic defeated Sunflower State, 4-2,  in a road match in Kansas. Juan Moreno finished with a brace with two goals. Ruben Carrasco and Joe Ruiz added goals in the victory. The green and yellow got up 3-0 before holding on for the 4-2 win.

 

For the season, Abou Diallo paces the club with six goals. Reed Berry has five goals, and Moreno adds four goals, including three in the last two matches. Bryson Reed and Brady Moody have combined for four shutouts in goal and a .80 goals against average. 

 

OKC 1889 FC comes into the match with a 7-1-2 record after a 0-0 draw at Demize NPSL on Friday, July 1 in Springfield, Missouri, Before the draw, OKC was on a five-match winning streak dating back to late May. Teejay Chiororo leads the club with seven goals in 10 contests. 

 

Tulsa and OKC met earlier this season in Oklahoma City with Tulsa earning a 3-0 road victory, handing OKC their only loss so far this season. Berry totaled a hat trick for all three goals in the win for the green and yellow.  

 

After Wednesday’s match, Tulsa Athletic welcomes Reign FK to Athletic Community Field on Saturday (July 9) at 7 p.m. A live video stream will be available.
