TULSA – Tulsa Athletic plays host to FC Motown in the NPSL National Semifinals on Saturday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Union Eighth Grade Center. This is Tulsa’s second straight semifinal appearance and first time hosting this far in the NPSL playoffs.
The winner of the semifinals advances to the NPSL Championship scheduled for Saturday, August 6 at the highest remaining seed.
The green and yellow claimed the South Region Championship for the second straight season to earn their spot in the semifinals. Tulsa defeated Jacksonville Armada 2-0 in Saturday, July 23 in Jacksonville. Abou Diallo and Titus Grant scored second-half goals just minutes apart to lift the green and yellow to the victory. Bryson Reed earned the shutout victory, his third shutout this postseason.
During the playoff run, Tulsa Athletic has defeated Heartland Conference opponents Demize NPSL and OKC 1889 FC to win the conference championship. In the South Region Semifinals, the green and yellow defeated Laredo Heat. Tulsa is currently on an eight-match winning streak.
Diallo leads Tulsa with nine goals this season. Reed Berry adds seven goals, and Juan Moreno has six goals. Reed and Brady Moody have combined for seven shutouts this season.
Tulsa is making its second straight appearance in the NPSL Semfinals. In the 2021 season, Tulsa Athletic defeated FC Baltimore Christos 1-0 in Baltimore to advance to the NPSL Championship. Romulo Bosquiero scored the match-winning goal in the 15th minute in the victory.
FC Motown won the East Region with a 3-0 victory over Appalachian FC on Saturday, July 23. FC Motown claimed the Keystone Conference title with two victories to start the playoffs. The visiting side is on a five-match winning streak. Assane Ben Fall leads the team with nine goals.
