Tulsa Athletic Moves to 2-0 with 3-1 Win over Demize NPSL

CLAREMORE – Tulsa Athletic moved to 2-0 early in the 2023 season with a 3-1 victory over Demize NPSL in the home opener at Soldier Field at Rogers State University. 

 

Abou Diallo finished with a brace, his second in two NPSL matches this season, for a team-high four goals to pace Tulsa Athletic and help the green and yellow to the 3-0 victory. Diallo scored the match-winning goal in the 31st minute to give the green and yellow a 1-0 edge. Diallo added his second goal in the 64th minute to make it 3-0 for the home side. 

 

After a 1-0 score after the first half, Tulsa Athletic added two goals in a three minute stretch of the second half. Aaron Ugbah doubled the score to 2-0 in the 61st minute with a strike to the far post. Diallo tallied his second goal in the 64th minute for the 3-0 score. Will Edwards had the assist on the second Diallo tally. 

 

Demize NPSL added a goal in the 90th minute for the 3-1 final score. 

 

The 3-1 victory comes 10 years after the first-ever match for Tulsa Athletic. On May 18, 2013, the green and yellow won, 3-2, over Liverpool Warriors at Drillers Stadium. 

 

Tulsa Athletic ranks first in the Heartland Conference with six points in the early part of the NPSL season. 

 

Tulsa Athletic plays host to Reign FK on Saturday (May 20) at 7:30 p.m. at Soldier Field on the campus of Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. Tickets for the game are $5. A live video stream will be available.
