OKC Scores Early to Down Tulsa Athletic

OKLAHOMA CITY – Tulsa Athletic suffered their first loss of the season, falling to OKC 1889 FC, 1-0, on Wednesday (May 24) at Oklahoma City University. The loss ended a three-match winning streak for the green and yellow as they dropped to 3-1-0 early in the NPSL regular season.

An early goal was the difference as OKC 1889 scored in the fourth minute of action to take the 1-0 advantage. OKC’s Camren Ashby hit a strike from long range to tally the goal.

Tulsa Athletic had opportunities throughout the rest of the contest to even the score, but the home side hung to keep the green and yellow scoreless.

With the result, Tulsa Athletic and OKC 1889 are tied for first in the Heartland Conference standings at 3-1-0 with nine points. The two teams meet again on June 17 to start a three-match home stand for the green and yellow.

Tulsa Athletic continues their road trip at Kansas City Sol on Wednesday, May 31 at 6p.m. at Park University in Parkville, Missouri. The official watch party for the contest will be at Heirloom Rustic Ale.
