OKLAHOMA CITY – Tulsa Athletic travels to rival Oklahoma City 1889 FC on Saturday (May 31) in a Mid-American Conference contest at Brian Harvey Field on the campus of Oklahoma City University.
The green and yellow are looking to get their first win of the season as they are currently 0-2-0 with a season-opening loss to OKC and a road loss at Wichita.
OKC 1889 FC ranks first in the conference with a perfect 2-0-0 record this season with wins over Tulsa and Union KC.
In the first matchup in Tulsa, OKC tallied two late goals to stun the green and yellow. Tulsa Athletic went up 1-0 on a David Palade goal, but OKC evened the score on a goal off a free kick and got the win with a second goal only seconds later.
Palade leads Tulsa Athletic in goals this season with two. He has tallied a goal in each of the first two games. Gustavo Vargas has one goal on the season.
OKC and Wichita are tied for the lead in the Mid-America Conference standings as both have two wins and six points. Tulsa and Union KC are tied for third with zero points.
After this Saturday’s game, Tulsa Athletic travel to Union KC on June 8 for a 7 p.m. contest in Kansas City.
