Alex Harris Joins Tulsa Athletic for 2019 Season

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Athletic added their 13th signing for the 2019 season with the addition of local University of Tulsa product Alex Harris.

 

“Alex Harris is a player we wanted to keep in the Tulsa community as he has played his whole career in green country,” GM of Tulsa Athletic Daniel DeVore said. “We want the best Tulsa players to continue their careers with us in the summer, and Alex is a great example of that. Alex understands what Tulsa is all about with his collegiate career at TU and ORU plus he time with TSC and Jenks High School before college. He has tons of experience in the midfield, and we are excited to have him join the club for the season.”  

 

A Tulsa native, Harris finished his collegiate career in the fall for the Golden Hurricane. As a senior in 2018, the midfielder played in 13 contests with four starts. Harris scored his only goal of the season in a win over Oral Roberts at ONEOK Field. For the season, he tallied one goal and two assists for four points. He registered 620 minutes in the midfield with 12 shots and four shots on goal. Harris was named TU’s “Man of the Match” against Drake during the season.

 

As a junior at TU in 2017, Harris appeared in six matches with three starts. He was selected as TU’s “Man of the Match” against No. 19 SMU and UCF. For the season, he played 239 minutes with 10 shots and two shots on goal.

 

Harris began his collegiate career in south Tulsa at Oral Roberts, where he played in 36 matches. In his sophomore campaign, he made 17 starts and scored the game-winning goal against Michigan State. Harris added an assist for three points. As a freshman, the midfielder appeared in 18 contests with nine starts. He tallied one goal and registered an assist. Harris totaled 25 shots with 13 on goal during his first collegiate season.

 

Harris was a four-year letterwinner at Jenks High School where he scored 36 goals and posted 30 assists in his career. In his club career, Harris played for Tulsa Soccer Club and won two Oklahoma State Championships.

 

Tulsa Athletic open the 2019 season on May 5 when they play host to the Little Rock Rangers at home at Veterans Park. Start time is set for 2 p.m. with single game tickets available for as low as $5 for general admission.
