TULSA – Mitch Cashion totaled two goals for a brace as Tulsa Athletic cruised to a 4-0 win over FC Bartlesville Buffaloes on Saturday (Oct. 26) night at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park in US Open Cup Second Round Qualifying.
With the win Tulsa Athletic advances to the US Open Cup Third Qualifying Round set for Nov. 16 or 17.
Cashion opened the scoring for the green and yellow in the 27th minute with a left-footed shot to the near post to put the home side up 1-0 early in the contest.
FC Bartlesville was forced to play with only 10 after a red card in the 41st minute of the first half.
The green and yellow looked to go up 2-0 late in the first half on a Rafa Zaldivar strike, but KB Harris was called offside on the goal so the score remained 1-0.
Tulsa Athletic held a 1-0 advantage after the first 45 minutes of action.
In the 51st minute, Harris doubled the score to 2-0 with a goal. Zaldivar played the ball to Harris in the box, and Harris slotted the shot off the post and into the goal.
An own goal in the 54th minute upped the margin to 3-0. A cross sent in by Zaldivar was knocked in by a FC Bartlesville defender at the far post for the goal.
Cashion earned a penalty in the 79th minute when he was taken down at the edge of the box. Cashion stepped up and hit the penalty to the left side of the goal to make it 4-0 late in the contest.
Bryson Reed earned the shutout win in goal going the full 90 minutes.
Tulsa Athletic is back in action next Saturday (Nov. 2) at 6 p.m. at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park against Little Rock Rangers Academy U20 in UPSL Fall action. Tickets are available online for the contest.
