BENTON, Ark. – Tulsa Athletic’s opened the 2023 NPSL season with their first-ever win at Arkansas Wolves, defeating the home side, 2-1, on Saturday (May 13) at Benton Athletic Complex.
Abou Diallo scored both goals for Tulsa Athletic to propel the green and yellow to the victory. Diallo gave the green and yellow a 1-0 edge with his first goal in the 23rd minute of action.
After Wolves tied the match at 1-1 on a penalty in the 30th minute, Diallo added his second goal with a header off the crossbar and in for a 2-1 lead for Tulsa in the 43rd minute right before halftime.
Arkansas Wolves finished the match with only nine men after two red cards in the final minutes of the contest. The Wolves were issued red cards in the 82nd and 85th minute to go down two men in the late moments.
Tulsa Athletic returns home for two straight contests. The green and yellow host Demize NPSL on Thursday (May 18) at 7:30 p.m. at Soldier Field at Rogers State University in Claremore, Okla. A watch party at Heirloom Rustic Ales in Tulsa will carry the live video stream for Thursday’s contest.
