TULSA – Abou Diallo tallied three goals to lift Tulsa Athletic to an exciting 4-2 win over Sporting Kansas City Academy on Sunday (Nov. 5) at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park in a clash between the top two clubs in the conference.
With the win, Tulsa Athletic pulled even with Sporting KC on points in the league standings. The green and yellow are now 7-1-1 with 22 points. SKC has the identical 7-1-1 record.
The green and yellow scored twice in the first half to gain a 2-0 advantage before the visiting side evened the score at 2-2. Diallo took over for the final two tallies for Tulsa Athletic to give the green and yellow the 4-2 victory.
Diallo scored the first goal of the game in the 33rd minute when he poked in a ball in from captain Joe Ruiz for a 1-0 score.
Ruben Torres doubled the edge to 2-0 two minutes later with a goal in the 35th minute. Diallo picked up the assist on the goal.
A strike in the 60th minute from Sporting KC made it 2-1. The visitors tied the score at 2-2 in the 63rd minute.
Diallo added his second goal in the 74th minute to put Tulsa up 3-2. And Diallo put the game away in the 76th minute with a quick turn and a strike over the top of the goalkeeper for a 4-2 margin.
With the home win, Tulsa Athletic moved to 5-0 at Hicks Park in UPSL play this season.
The win clinched a home playoff game for Tulsa Athletic sent for Nov. 19 at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park.
Tulsa Athletic ends the regular season on the road at Ryogoku Soccer Academy on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at 9th & Van Brunt Athletic Fields Park in Kansas City.
