TULSA, Okla. – No. 1 seed Tulsa Athletic will host the Heartland Conference championship against No. 3 seed Demize NPSL on Saturday (July 13) at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park.

 

Tulsa Athletic advanced to the Heartland Conference title game with a 6-2 victory over No. 4 seed Ozark FC on Wednesday (July 10) at Veterans Park. The green and yellow tallied the first four goals en route to the win. Joe Garcia totaled two goals for a brace, while Santiago Riveros went for two goals in only two minutes for his brace.

 

With the win in the conference semifinals, the club is currently on a 11-match unbeaten streak after going 7-0-3 during the regular season to win the Heartland Conference regular season championship by 11 points.  

 

For the season, Garcia leads the team with sixth goals in 11 contests. He is the only Tulsa Athletic player to appear in every minute of action this season. Adam Habib adds five goals.

 

Demize NPSL advanced to the Heartland Conference championship on penalty kicks after a 1-1 score after 120 minutes. Demize made their first three PKs and their goalkeeper came up with three saves to clinch a spot in the title game.

 

Demize NPSL went 3-3-4 during the regular season for 13 points and tied for second place in the Heartland Conference. Their defense was second best in the conference to Tulsa Athletic with only 12 goals allowed in 10 contests during the regular season. This is the first time Demize NPSL has played in the playoffs.

 

During the regular season, Tulsa defeated Demize 3-0 at Veterans Park on June 30, and the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Springfield, Missouri on June 15.

 

In the all-time series between the two teams, Tulsa Athletic hold an 8-1-2 advantage, including a 5-0 edge in Tulsa.

 

This is the sixth postseason appearance for Tulsa Athletic as they are 6-4-1 all-time in the NPSL playoffs.

 

The winner of Saturday’s contest will advance to the South Region semifinals on Tuesday against the winner of the Lone Star Conference.
