TULSA – Striker Luis Flores is set to return for his second season with Tulsa Athletic for the 2024 season.

Flores, a native of Lufkin, Texas, was a key member of the club in 2023 as he helped Tulsa Athletic win the 2023 NPSL National Championship. Flores led the club with 10 goals during the 2023 NPSL season, including eight goals in the playoffs. In the NPSL National Semifinals against Crossfire, Flores totaled a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory to send Tulsa Athletic to the NPSL National Championship game.

“We are excited to have Luis Flores back for the 2024 season, Tulsa Athletic GM Daniel DeVore said. “Luis was one of the missing ingredients that enabled us to bring home a national championship. Luis followed up his summer success with an impressive fall season at ORU, finishing third in the country in goals. I have instructed Sonny and Joey to make sure the goals at Hicks are fully secured, because I have a strong feeling that Luis will be banging home quite a few goals in the upcoming weeks.”

In the fall Flores competed for Oral Robets in his junior season. The striker was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and All-Summit League First Team after Flores totaled 15 goals during the 2023 NCAA season, tying for first during the regular season. Flores totaled a conference-high seven goals in Summit League play. For the season, Flores made 17 starts and played 1,530 minutes for the Golden Eagles. He finished with 15 goals, two assists and six game-winning goals.

Before his time at ORU, Flores played two seasons at Tyler Junior College.

The Tulsa Athletic 2024 season begins on June 9 when the green and yellow host Denton Diablos FC at 4 p.m. at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park.
