TULSA – Over the years Tulsa Athletic have been on the good side of many lopsided matches. Add Sunday’s result to that pile as Tulsa Athletic Project 2020 won, 9-0, over FC Bago.
FC Bago entered the match with a record of 1-0-3 and sat in 6th place. The top four teams in the conference qualify for the post season, so the importance of the three points was significant for both sides.
Tulsa got off to sharp start with two good chances created in the opening minutes. In the 11th minute Santiago Riveros opened the scoring when he finished a fine move by slotting home a Abou Diallo pass for Riveros’ second goal of the season.
The mountain became colossal in the 25th minute when FC Bagos’ Yonathan Hernandez picked up his second yellow card of the match and reduced the visitors to 10 men.
Diallo was the provider again on the second goal, as he slotted debutant Brody Patience in and he calmly placed the ball under the keeper at the near post to double the lead in the 29th minute. Aaron Ugbah tapped in the hard work of Alex Harris two minutes later and the teams entered the break with Project 2020 up 3-0.
Project 2020 seemed keen and focused in the second half to stay sharp and get some good work in. Riveros tallied his second as did Brody Patience. Diallo got on the scoresheet and Riveros finished up his hat-trick. There was an own goal and Daril Paz scored his first goal for the club to round off the 9-0 rout.
The boys head down to Dallas on Saturday to do battle with second place Texas Spurs. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and the game can be seen live on MyCujoo.com. A link will be provided.
