TULSA – Joe Quashie’s goal in the 83rd minute gave Tulsa Athletic a 1-0 victory over Emporia FC on Saturday (June 20) night at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park.
With the win, Tulsa Athletic moved into third place in the conference with seven points, tying with Emporia FC. The green and yellow are two points back from second-place Union KC with only three games left in the regular season, including two games against Union.
Quashie knocked in the game-winning goal with his left foot as Abou Diallo headed over a corner kick from Rafa Zaldivar. The goal put the home side up 1-0 late in the contest.
After an even first half, Tulsa Athletic took control in the second 45 minutes of action. The home side created opportunities and held more possession in the second half. The green and yellow finally got a shot to find the back of the goal with the late-game winner.
Bryson Reed earned the shutout win in goal, going the full 90 minutes.
Tulsa Athletic continues its four-game home stretch with two home games next week. The green and yellow take on Evolution SC on Wednesday (June 24) at 7 p.m. at Athletic Community Field. Tulsa Athletic’s final home game is set for Saturday (June 27) at 7 p.m. at Athletic Community Field.
