Santiago Riveros is Back for 2021 Season with Tulsa Athletic

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Athletic announced Santiago Riveros is back for his fourth season with the club as the midfielder became the seventh announced addition to the 2021 roster. 

 

Riveros previously played for the green and yellow in 2019, 2017 and 2015. 

 

In his most recent season with Tulsa Athletic in 2019, Riveros helped the team capture the Heartland Conference Championship and advance to the South Region Finals. Riveros appeared in 11 contests and tallied three goals in the 2019 campaign. During the Heartland Conference semifinal match against Ozark FC, Riveros registered two late goals for a brace in the 6-2 victory. Riveros totaled 438 minutes with two starts during the 2019 season. 

 

Riveros played for Tulsa Athletic in the 2017 season when the midfielder appeared in all 12 contests with nine starts. He opened the season fast with three goals in the first two matches, including a brace against Ozark FC in the home opener. For the season, Riveros registered 749 minutes on the pitch for the green and yellow. The midfielder finished with four goals in the 12 contests, and he helped Tulsa advance to the Heartland Conference Finals. Riveros played his first season for Tulsa Athletic in the 2015 season.  

 

In his collegiate career, Riveros played two seasons for Oral Roberts, where he started in 30 matches and registered nine goals and nine assists. As a junior in 2016, the midfielder was named All-Summit League along with being selected as the Summit League Player of the Week. Riveros recorded six goals, including a brace against Eastern Illinois. He led the Summit League with eight assists. Riveros scored the game-winning goal against Eastern Illinois. For the season, he started in all 16 matches and played 1,465 minutes.

 

As a senior for the Golden Eagles, Riveros made 14 starts and appeared in 15 contests. He tallied three goals and one assist for seven points.

 

Prior to ORU, Riveros played in Colombia for Noraml Superior Del Quindio High School and Politecnico Grancolombiano. He was named the high school athlete of the year in 2009.

 

Tulsa Athletic starts the 2021 season on May 1 at Arkansas Wolves in Little Rock, Arkansas. The home slate begins on May 16 against OKC 1889 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park.
