Tulsa Athletic Down Dallas City FC 7-0

MCKINNEY, Texas – Tulsa Athletic dominated in a 7-0 victory at Dallas City FC, who was playing in its season opener, on Sunday (May 23) at McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch. 

 

With the win, the green and yellow moved to seven points and into first place in the Heartland Conference standings at 2-1-1 on the season. Tulsa Athletic and OKC 1889 are tied in first at seven points in the league. Dallas City FC dropped to 0-1 in Heartland Conference action.

 

Tulsa Athletic controlled possession and found goals early and often in the road win. Aboubakr Diallo tallied the first goal of the game, his second of the season, for an early 1-0 advantage for the green and yellow. 

 

Joe Ruiz doubled the Tulsa Athletic advantage to 2-0 with his first goal of the 2021 season early in the first half. Aaron Ugbah totaled his first goal of the season as well to increase the edge to 3-0 in the first half of action. 

 

Tulsa Athletic went into halftime with a 4-0 lead as Dallas City helped Tulsa get on the scoreboard with an own goal. 

 

In the second half, Tulsa Athletic added three more goals for the 7-0 final score. All three second-half goalscorers notched their first-ever goals for Tulsa Athletic. 

 

After Tulsa Athletic was awarded a penalty due to a foul in the box, Juan Arias scored the penalty-kick goal to up the advantage to 5-0 in the second half. 

 

Defender Matt Liotta got in on the scoring with a tally in the second half. And Noah Gonsalves, who came on as a late sub, scored the final goal for the green and yellow for the final 7-0 score. 

 

Bryson Reed finished with his second shutout victory of the 2021 season in goal. 

 

The seven goals are the most for Tulsa Athletic since the 2017 season when the green and yellow defeated Ozark FC 9-1 at LaFortune Stadium. 

 

Tulsa Athletic are back in action on Tuesday, June 1 at Demize NPSL at Lake County Soccer Complex in Springfield, Missouri.
