OKLAHOMA CITY – Tulsa Athletic fell, 2-0, at OKC 1889 FC on Wednesday (June 25) at Brian Harvey Field on the campus of Oklahoma City University in The League for Clubs action.
With the loss, Tulsa Athletic fell to 4-1-3 on the season with 13 points to rank second in the Mid-American Conference. OKC 1889 FC moved into first place with 15 points and a 5-0-3 record.
In the other Mid-American Conference game, Union KC won 3-2 over FC Wichita. Wichita ranks third in the conference with 11 points, and Union KC has six points for fourth place.
After a scoreless first half, OKC scored in the 58th minute of the second half to take a 1-0 advantage.
Luis Flores was sent off later in the second half with a red card to put Tulsa at 10 players for the rest of the contest.
OKC added their second goal in the 78th minute to up the score to 2-0.
For the season, Tulsa Athletic and OKC 1889 split the four-game series. After OKC won the first contest, 2-1, in Tulsa, the green and yellow won two straight against OKC before tonight’s loss.
Tula Athletic returns home for the final two games of the 2025 regular season. The green and yellow host Union KC on Saturday (June 28) at 7:30 p.m. at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. The regular season ends on Wednesday, July 2 when Tulsa plays host to FC Wichita at 7:30 p.m.
