TULSA – Carson Banham tallied two goals for a brace as Tulsa Athletic scored three first-half goals en route to a season-opening 3-0 win over Emporia FC on Sunday (May 3) at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. 

Tulsa Athletic moves to 1-0-0 on the season with three points in the Mid-American Conference standings.

The green and yellow went up 1-0 in the ninth minute when Banham headed in a goal on a cross from Rafa Zaldivar to put the home side up early. 

The margin increased to 2-0 only a few minutes later when Zaldivar scored in the 12th minute. 

Banham added his second goal in the 44th minute to up the advantage to 3-0 right before halftime. 

After going up 3-0 in the first half, the green and yellow cruised to the victory in the season opener for The League for Clubs season. 

Bryson Reed earned the shutout win in goal, going the full 90 minutes in goal. 

Tulsa Athletic are back in action on the road at Emporia FC on May 17 at 7 p.m. at Emporia Middle School in Emporia, Kansas.
