Tulsa Athletic Pulls Away in 2nd Half for 5-0 Win over Little Rock

TULSA – Tulsa Athletic scored four second-half goals en route to a 5-0 win over Little Rock Rangers U23 on Saturday (June 22) night at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park in a summer friendly. 

After taking a 1-0 edge into halftime, Tulsa Athletic scored twice in four minutes to build a 3-0 lead. And two late goals off corner kicks moved the margin to 5-0 in the Tulsa Athletic win. 

The second half scoring started when Will Applegate tapped in a rebound off a shot from Omar Mora to double the edge to 2-0 in the 61st minute of action. 

Joe Ruiz made it 3-0 only a few minutes later in the 64th minute with his first goal. Mora set up the goal with the pass in front to Ruiz. 

Tulsa Athletic added two late goals on corner kicks. Will Applegate got a touch on a Mitch Cashion corner kick in the 85th minute for the goal to increase the margin to 4-0, and Applegate earned the brace. 

Adrian Renteria tallied the last goal on a header off another Cashion corner kick to up the score to 5-0 in the 90th minute. 

Luis Flores opened the scoring when he knocked in a goal on a ball into the box from Jaxon Stovall for the 1-0 advantage in the 31st minute of the first half as the green and yellow held a 1-0 lead at the half. 

Applegate finished with two goals. Mora and Cashion each totaled two assists. 

Bryson Reed earned the shutout win in goal, going the full 90 minutes. Reed made a diving save early in the contest to go with a few other saves in the game. 

Tulsa Athletic closes out the 2024 summer season with the American Championship Cup set for Saturday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. Tickets are on sale online.
