Tulsa Athletic Run Unbeaten Streak to 7 with 1-1 Draw at Demize

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Tulsa Athletic extended their unbeaten streak to seven-straight contests with a 1-1 draw at Demize NPSL on Saturday (June 15) night at Lake Country Soccer Cooper Stadium.

 

With the result, Tulsa Athletic moved to 4-0-3 during the 2019 season. In Heartland Conference action on Saturday night, all three of the league matches ended in 1-1 draws, and Tulsa Athletic continues to lead the league standings with 15 points after seven weeks in the season. Little Rock Rangers are five points back (10 points) and Demize NPSL rank third with nine points.

 

Tulsa Athletic took an early lead with a first half goal, however, host Demize NPSL scored the equalizer in the second half for the 1-1 draw.

 

Tulsa Athletic gained the first half advantage when Adam Habib scored in the 33rd minute on a shot to the right post from the left side of the box after a pass from Billy Nzojyibwami, who earned the assist. The tally was Habib’s second goal of the season in the green and yellow.

 

At the break, Tulsa Athletic continued to lead with the 1-0 edge after the first 45 minutes. Tulsa Athletic controlled possession in the first half and had their chances to add to their one-goal advantage.

 

In the second half, Demize NPSL evened the score at 1-1 midway through the period. Gustavo Nascimento hit a shot with his left foot to the far post in the 66th minute to tie the contest at 1-1.

 

The second half was much more even with both teams having scoring opportunities to earn the victory. Late in the contest, Habib put a shot on goal, but Demize NPSL’s goalkeeper made the save to keep the score tied.

 

Tulsa Athletic end their three-match road trip on Wednesday (June 19) at Ozark FC. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Har-Ber High School in Springdale, Arkansas.
