Tulsa Athletic Travels to Sporting KC for 3rd Round of US Open Cup

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Tulsa Athletic travels to MLS side Sporting Kansas City for the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup set for Tuesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Children’s Mercy Park.

Tulsa Athletic advanced to the third round of the US Open Cup for the first time in club history after a 1-0 victory over city rival FC Tulsa on April 6 at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. KB Harris was the hero as he headed in a free kick for a 1-0 score in the 63rd minute of the contest. Roman Torres sent in the cross for the assist. Bryson Reed earned the shutout win in goal with three saves.

In the first round of the US Open Cup, Tulsa Athletic defeated Brazos Valley Cavalry (Texas) FC 1-0 on March 22 at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. Stefan Cvetanovic scored the match-winning goal in the 31st minute.

Sporting KC enters in the third round of the tournament due to being an MLS side. This is the first-ever meeting between Tulsa Athletic and SKC.
