TULSA – Tulsa Athletic welcomes Arkansas Wolves to Tulsa for a Sunday afternoon Heartland Conference contest at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. Start time is set for 2 p.m., and tickets are $10 for general admission.
Tulsa Athletic are returning home after a 1-1 draw on Thursday at Demize NPSL in Springfield, Missouri. Captain Joe Garcia tallied the equalizer, his fifth goal this season across all competition, in the final seconds of stoppage time to allow the green and yellow to escape with one point. Demise took a 1-0 edge only a few minutes earlier in the 90th minute.
The green and yellow sit at seven points after three Heartland Conference matches with a 2-0-1 record. Tulsa opened the NPSL season with two wins, a 5-1 victory at Reign FK and last Sunday defeated Club Atletico Saint Louis 2-1 at the first-ever match at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park.
Sunflower State and OKC 1889 FC rank second in the Heartland Conference with six points after only two matches each. Arkansas Wolves are at three points, and Demize NPSL sit at one point after only one match. Reign FK and Club Atletico Saint Louis are both still searching for their first points of the season.
Arkansas Wolves are currently 1-1-0 after their first two matches of the season. The Wolves opened 2022 with a 2-0 loss at Sunflower State, but returned home to Arkansas and got a 2-0 victory over Reign FK in their most recent contest. Marvin Sibanda and Nyasha Dube each scored in the win.
Tulsa Athletic won the last meeting between the two clubs by a 4-0 score at Veterans Park in Tulsa in 2021. Abou Diallo finished with a hat trick, and Garcia added a goal. In the first-ever meeting between the clubs in 2021, the match ended in a 3-3 draw. Garcia, Diallo and Alex Harris totaled goals.
