Tulsa Athletic Wins 5-0; Captures Heartland Conference Shield

BARTLESVILLE – Tulsa Athletic poured on four second-half goals to pull away for a 5-0 victory at Reign FK on Saturday (July 8) at Custer Stadium at Bartlesville High School. With the win, Tulsa Athletic finished the regular season with the most points in the Heartland Conference to capture the Heartland Conference for the second straight season and third time in the last four seasons. 

Tulsa Athletic finishes the regular season with a 7-1-2 record and 23 points in the Heartland Conference. 

The green and yellow host Demize NPSL in the Heartland Conference semifinals on Wednesday (July 12) at 7:30 p.m. at Soldier Field on the campus of Rogers State University in Claremore. 

Luis Flores scored the opening goal for Tulsa in the 19th minute to put the visiting side up 1-0 early in the match. 

Bryson Reed came up huge only minutes later when he saved a penalty by Reign FK in the 22nd minute to keep the score at 1-0. 

The green and yellow started the second half strong with a goal in the opening minutes. Abou Diallo tallied the second goal in the 47th minute on a perfect ball into the box from Roman Torres to double the score to 2-0. 

The final three goals happened in a matter of only 13 minutes. Joe Quashie headed in a corner kick from Chris Taylor to up the advantage to 3-0 in the 73rd minute. 

Aaron Ugbah did it all himself to score in the 76th minute to increase the margin to 4-0. 

Juan Moreno added the final goal in the 85th minute for the 5-0 score. 

Tulsa Athletic put pressure on Reign throughout the contest, forcing Reign saves and also hitting the crossbar twice. Rio Mello hit a free kick off the crossbar in the 63rd minute, and Flores had a strike go off the crossbar in the 16th minute.

Reed finished with the shutout win in goal, the five shutout win this season across all competition. Taylor, Joe Ruiz and Vitor Turnes controlled the back line along with Ethan Gordon coming on late. Reed’s biggest save of the contest was on the penalty in the 22nd minute. 

Tulsa Athletic hosts Demize NPSL on Wednesday (July 12) at 7:30 p.m at Soldier Field on the campus of Rogers State University in Claremore. A live video stream will be available.
