Tulsa Athletic Wins 8-0 over Woodland FC to Advance to US Open Cup Qualifying 4th Round

TULSA – Tulsa Athletic is only one win away from a spot in the 2025 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup field after a dominating 8-0 victory over Woodland (Kan.) Football Club on Saturday (Nov. 16) night at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. 

Jacob Zamarron finished with a hat trick with three goals to lead the Tulsa Athletic attack. Ruben Torres, Luis Flores, Joe Ruiz, Abou Diallo and Ruben Carrasco each added one goal. 

Torres opened the scoring for the green and yellow in the 13th minute to put the home side up 1-0. 

Zamarron ended the first half with consecutive goals to increase the margin to 3-0 going into halftime. Zamarron scored first in the 36th minute to make it 2-0, and he added his second goal in the 45th minute to extend the margin to 3-0. 

In the second half, Zamarron scored for the third straight time to put the home side in front 4-0 in the 57th minute. After the goal, Zamarron’s night was over as he was subbed off the field. His hat trick came in only 57th minutes, and his three goals were scored only 21 minutes apart. 

Flores got in on the scoring in the 63rd minute to make it 5-0. 

Tulsa Athletic added three goals in the final seven minutes to pull out to the 8-0 margin. Ruiz tallied a goal in the 83rd minute for the 6-0 score. Diallo, who subbed in for Zamarron, scored in the 90th minute to extend the edge to 7-0, and Carrasco got the final goal in the 90th minute for the 8-0 lead. 

Logan Campbell started in goal, getting the shutout win. 

Tulsa Athletic returns to UPSL action on Sunday, Nov. 17 against Arkansas Wolves at 2 p.m. at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park. The green and yellow are currently on a seven-game winning streak in UPSL play and are on a nine-game winning streak across all competition. 

Tulsa Athletic advances to the Fourth Qualifying Round set for Dec. 7 or 8 against the winner of Chicago House AC vs. Wisloka Chicago.
