Vinicius Oliveira Set to Return to Tulsa Athletic for 2021 Campaign

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Athletic announced the addition of Vinicius Oliveira for the 2021 season, his second with the club, as he became the sixth announced signing. 

 

During his first season with Tulsa Athletic in 2019, Oliveira made 11 starts and played in 12 matches, helping the green and yellow win the Heartland Conference championship and advance to the South Region Finals. Playing in the midfield, Oliveira totaled 865 minutes on the pitch in the 2019 season. 

 

A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Oliveira recently completed his senior season at NCAA Division I Oral Roberts where he appeared in all 13 contests, including 11 starts in the midfield. He tallied one goal in his senior campaign, a double overtime game winner against Eastern Illinois in the 107th minute. The goal was one of his eight shots on the season with three shots on goal. For the season, he played 848 minutes in the midfield. 

 

In his first season at ORU as a junior, Oliveira was named to the All-Summit League Newcomer Team as he started and played in all 17 matches for the Golden Eagles. He registered one goal against Tulsa and finished with four assists, ranking third on the team. Oliveira totaled two assists in a win over Purdue Fort Wayne during his junior campaign. In 1,323 minutes, he tallied 11 shots with three on goal. 

 

Oliveira started his collegiate career at Cardinal Stritch University where he started for two seasons, winning the conference title both seasons. In 22 starts during his sophomore season, Oliveira helped the Wolves win the CCAC regular season and tournament championships as the team finished 20-3 in 2018. He scored one goal and played 1,411 minutes in the midfield. For the season, Oliveira finished with 22 shots and six shots on goal. 

 

As a freshman, Oliveira started in 17 matches, posting two goals, including one game winner, and two assists. He registered 1,021 minutes in the midfield and totaled 29 shots with 11 on goal. The Wolves captured the CCAC regular season and tournament championships in Oliveira’s freshman campaign as Cardinal Stritch went 16-4-2. 

 

Tulsa Athletic opens the 2021 season on May 1 at Arkansas Wolves in Little Rock, Arkansas. The 2021 home opener is set for May 16 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park.
