TULSA – Jacob Zamarron totaled four goals, all in the first half, as Tulsa Athletic cruised to a 8-1 win over Ryogoku Academy on Saturday (Sept. 7) at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park in the UPSL fall season opener for the green and yellow.
Zamarron, who appeared with Tulsa for the first time since the 2024 US Open Cup, gave Tulsa the early 1-0 advantage in the 21st minute.
He tallied his final three goals of the half in the final five minutes of the period. The forward doubled the score to 2-0 in the 41st minute with his second goal. After a foul in the box, Zamarron converted a penalty in the 45th minute to extend the score to 3-0. Still in the 45th minute, Zamarron made it 4-0 right before halftime.
Ryogoku started the second half with a quick goal for a 4-1 score only minutes into the second half.
Abou Diallo increased the lead back to four with his goal in the 51st minute for a 5-1 lead.
KB Harris headed in two goals in 10 minutes to up the margin to 7-1. In the 65th minute, Harris scored on a header off a corner kick for a 6-1 score. Harris got a brace with his second goal in the 75th minute on another header.
Javier Cruz scored the final goal in his first appearance in the green and yellow. At 16 years old, Cruz is the youngest player to score a goal in club history.
Bryson Reed went the full 90 minutes in goal with only one goal allowed.
Tulsa Athletic travels to Arkansas Wolves next Saturday for a 4 p.m. contest in Benton, Arkansas. The green and yellow return home on Wednesday, Sept. 18 against Side FC 92 at 7 p.m. at Athletic Community Field at Hicks Park.
